Who We Are
Meridian Wellbeing has provided professional counselling services for over 30 years, including providing NHS Talking Therapies (Formerly Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)) for the last decade.
We fundamentally believe, and have seen from our long experience, that counselling can make a significant difference in the lives of those we work with. We also believe that this service should be accessible, which is why we offer counselling in English, Cantonese, and other languages, delivered by experienced therapists, and affordable to ensure that everyone can get the support the need.
Having been a service provider for the NHS, we know how vital its support services are, but unfortunately many people face long waiting times, strict eligibility criteria, or difficulty navigating the system.
That’s where Meridian Wellbeing steps in. We offer a flexible, tiered counselling service designed to make therapy more accessible, affordable, and meet you where you are.
Why use our Counselling & CBT Service?
- No waiting lists – get support when you need it.
- More choice – pick a therapist that suits you.
- Flexible access – online, in-person, or phone sessions.
- Same high standards – our therapists meet NHS-level quality.
- Wider therapy options – beyond NHS models, all under one roof.
As a charity, all income is reinvested into our services. By choosing Counselling with Meridian Wellbeing, you're also helping others in your community access vital mental health support.

What is counselling?
What is CBT?
What can we help you with?
Counselling is a talking therapy that provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained therapist.
Your therapist will help you to find ways to deal with your emotional issues and concerns by helping you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to develop a better understanding of yourself and others.
Your therapist will listen to you without judgement and will be impartial but understanding.
Whilst they may offer you information, they will not tell you what you should think or do.
At Meridian Wellbeing, our goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported, so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, what we do, and how our bodies feel physical, are all connected. CBT aims to help us take notice and challenge our thoughts and behaviours to commit to changes and help improve our wellbeing.
At Meridian Wellbeing, our CBT service is a NICE Compliant evidenced-based psychological intervention, aligned with NHS Talking Therapies. We provide short-term Guided Self-Help and CBT-based interventions for those struggling with depression, excessive worry, social anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mild to moderate ill-health issues.
There are different types of CBT that focus on specific issues and challenges, and your therapist will tailor your treatment to your needs. The techniques and tools they may employ are vigorously tested for safety and effectiveness in improving people’s wellbeing.
Our counselling service can support you with a wide range of issues, including:
- Feeling low, anxious, stressed or overwhelmed
- Coping with physical health challenges and the emotions that come with them

- Relationship difficulties or breakups
- Traumatic experiences, flashbacks or nightmares
